The Candle of Love

As the angel told Joseph: “Mary will give birth to a son, and you will give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” The birth of Jesus took place to fulfill what the Lord said through Isaiah: “the virgin will be with child and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel – which means ‘God with us.’”

The Bible cautions us not to express love not in just words or tongue but with actions and in truth. Real love DOES something . . . And the Father’s love chases down lost children to bring them back to the family.

God so loved the world that HE GAVE His only Son . . .

God demonstrates His own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us . . .

Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.

Today, we light the candle of LOVE, remembering God has made His dwelling place with us:

Two thousand years ago, God looked on our sin-ravished world and did what we could never do – He came to us.

Jesus entered humanity, restored us to the Father, and poured out His Spirit in our hearts – that we would know Him more intimately than any earthly companion. Father, strengthen us with power through your Holy Spirit today, that we would be stunned once again by how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. LOVE came down at Christmas.

Father God, pour your love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit today.
